Kobe Bryant was a regular name in my house. I remember watching Kobe Bryant as a kid, I remember showing my oldest son Kobe Bryant’s last game. I was initially going to blog about what it means to work hard and believing in yourself today but we all just found out that Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna Bryant passed away today. This one hurts…it hurts a lot.
Kobe’s impact and influence in basketball and in hip-hop culture is undeniable. I sit here and remember playing as Kobe and Shaq on NBA Street with the friends I had growing up. Calling out “Jordan” or “Kobe” when my jumper was hot in a game of 3 on 3.
When I think about Kobe Bryant, the word that comes to mind is excellence. I think about the “mamba mentality” and want it means to have that killer instinct and believing in your own greatness. The hard work, the ups and the downs, the dedication, sacrifice and consistency.
Kobe teaches me that not only can people grow and do better, but he is also the perfect of example of what hard work will get you. As a father I am devastated. My heart hurts for his family. This is a tough lesson on how short life can be. Thank you Kobe Bryant for leaving a legacy of hard work and what it means to be a father. What it means to play through the pain.
Very few people have that mentality and you have left a positive impact on the world. I believe people can grow and people can change and in my eyes you were a wonderful example of that. If anything, as a huge basketball fan my entire life to see your entrepreneurship and commitment is inspiring and makes me want to do better. You will be missed.
Thank you Kobe Bryant for leaving a legacy of hard work. My respects and condolences go to the Bryant family. I am so very very sorry for your loss.
